I originally chose page 13 because of the description of the forest. They used words such as mythical, spiritual, Eden, etc. to really paint a vivid picture of BC. I wanted to use these amazing words to paint a different picture which still gives the same whimsical vibe.
I really like the poem I ended up creating because it almost like a frame for the reader to fill in. It feels so bare-boned and short, but truly allows you to fill in the blanks and interpret it how you want.
My interpretation is that even now, as people have evolved and so has the world around us, we still describe our ideal future as mythical, or one we only see in our dreams. We always want more than we have. We want peace, happiness and freedom- but at this point, it still seems like a mythical future. Even now, people use the adjective mythical to represent a place they find a future.
The painting I used to accompany my poem is one that I feel really captured the mythical and whimsical vibe I was feeling. It represents a girl dreaming of a seemingly mythical future. Dreaming of an alternate reality where magic lives and hatred doesn’t.
